Traditionally funerals in South Africa are seen as a major rite of passage, and are often held with no expense spared by families showing hospitality to mourners. Older people may have taken out insurance policies to cover their own funeral costs. But with the death rates of younger family members increasing - with no insurance policies to cash-in - is it time to encourage a modifications in funeral styles?
