Ageing populations
- Aging, poverty, and social pension in Vietnam
- Social pension schemes help to significantly reduce the incidence of poverty for the elderly. This paper looks at the potential role of an extended social pension scheme in Vietnam, and estimates the financial costs. Focusing on rural areas appears to be the most effective method for poverty reduction through pensions, and schemes providing lower benefits to wider groups of beneficiaries appear to have most impact.
