- Unlocking Africa’s clean energy potential

This study aims to evaluate sub-Saharan Africa’s potential for clean energy projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol. The authors discuss how sub-Saharan Africa’s clean energy project potential can be unlocked and examine the innovative instruments that can help to channel the additional funds needed for investing in new and existing energy services. The paper concludes by presenting a number of technical, logistical and capacity building challenges for the region to overcome.
