Due to the importance of land for livelihoods and identity in Africa, governance of land is at the heart of the state-society relationship in the continent. This paper focuses on the land issue primarily in regards to Kenya, viewing it is a cause of conflict in the country as it has been the crux of economic, cultural and socio-economic change.
