Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment: Lami Town, Republic of Fiji

This abridged report looks at the climate vulnerability of Lami Town in the Republic of Fiji. Urban communities in Fiji are located in highly hazard-prone areas in the coastal zone. Storm surges and sea-level rise can affect settlements, food production and infrastructure. A lack of basic services such as clean water supply and solid waste management can exacerbate the negative effects of climate change. The poorest people have less access to infrastructure, basic services and social safety nets in the event of a disaster.

This report gives an overview of Fiji and the city of Lami Town. It also explores city wide vulnerability, the vulnerability of people, places and sections, identifies some key adaptation options and offers some recommendations for practical actions.
