Enhancing Gender Visibility in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change in the Caribbean: Country Assessment Report for Belize

This report presents the results of the Caribbean Risk Management Initiative (CRMI) study in Belize, which included a survey of institutions with responsibility for disaster risk management and gender affairs. It fulfils the main objective of the regional study, which was to determine the structure and gender composition of these agencies, the extent of their awareness of gender issues and the incorporation of gender into their plans and procedures. The survey results are analyzed in the context of gender differences in vulnerability and risks. The second section outlines relevant socio-economic indicators that set the context. The third section contains responses from the survey of the institutions. The fourth section presents key issues, and the fifth section presents conclusions and recommendations.
