State peer review mechanism: process guide

The Nigeria Governors' Forum launched the State Peer Review Mechanism (SPRM) in April 2011 to enhance good governance and socioeconomic development in States, through periodic review of the implementation of their development policies, plans and programmes.

This guide provides details of the procedures and activities involved in the six stages of the SPRM process:

  1. Initiation and stakeholder sensitisation workshop,
  2. Preparation and submission of the State Self-Assessment Report and State Programme of Action,
  3. Technical review visit and validation of the State Self-Assessment Report,
  4. Preparation of the State Peer Review Report by the Technical Review Panel,
  5. Tabling of the State Peer Review Report and State Programme of Action before the Nigeria Governors' Forum,
  6. Public launch of the State Peer Review Report.
