The exisiting literature on the education of refugee children in the United States focuses primarily on postarrival experiences, with little attention to educational experiences in the children's countries of origin and first asylum. This report seeks to address this gap by drawing on UNHCR data on access and quality of education, and more than a decade of in-depth field-based research.
