View full report

Acknowledging that it is impossibe to answer many specific questions on current events, this report aims to make its own contribution to the debate by examining which grassroots organisations around the world are engaged in the frontline of the battle against poverty and discrimination. This report asks countries to examine what are the main obstacles to human security faced within their borders.

The document includes thematic reports on issues including:

  • obstacles to human security
  • the World Bank
  • tax evasion
  • gender equality
  • children's immunisations
  • information, science, and technology.

The report also includes individual country reports of over thirty countries, and comparative country tables, a well as a country ranking according to achievements in gender equity.

The paper's editors stress that it is not enough to class global performance as insufficient. Rather, concrete responsiblities must be identified at all levels, particularly in terms of international organisations. The authors are highly critical of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and World Trade Organisation, and emphasise that not daring, delaying, or failing to take action on these issues will only lead to greater global insecurity.
