Council for Economic Empowerment for Women of Africa - Uganda Chapter

The Council for Economic Empowerment for Women of Africa (CEEWA)-Uganda chapter is a non- governmental, non-partisan and not for profit organization working to promote the economic empowerment of women in the development process.

The organisation's objectives include:

  • To strengthen the capacity of decision-makers to integrate gender concerns in laws, policies and programmes
  • To provide a forum for women to discuss, share experiences and support activities that promote their participation in mainstream economic development polices and programmes
  • To facilitate widespread replication of micro-credit principles and standards that are sustainable and serve long term strategic and practical needs of women
  • To advocate for micro credit principles and standards that meet women's practical and strategic gender needs in a sustainable manner
  • To enhance and build professionalism in the day-to-day roles and responsibilities of women through decision-making including the establishment of an empowerment centre
  • To promote gender equity in agricultural extension service provision
  • To network with other institutions working towards the goal of creating gender equity in poverty eradication initiatives
  • To promote the institutional development of CEEWA-Uganda into a strong organization with the capacity to execute, monitor, document programs and mobilize funds.
