Short courses are effective instruments for continuous professional and adult education. Short courses differ from long term courses and educational programmes not only by the length of the activity but also the format and type of training offered. Typically they are interactive, build on the participants experience and emphasise facilitation rather than teaching.

This guide provides a brief summary of the points to consider when planning short courses. It is intended for use by trainers and educators who have little or no experience of planning such activities. Guidance is given on:
