This resource describes a project by PRIA (Society for Participatory Research in Asia) to undertake a model building initiatibe on community based urban planning in two towns of Chhattisgarh, a state in central India. PRIA's attempt was to develop a methodology that could be integrated in the larger municipal developmental agenda. The lessons and experiences from the participatory town planning exercise in Chhattisgarh has immense potential for scaling up so that the process can have a more widespread application in cities and towns that are taking up participatory urban planning initiatives.
