The Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), formerly known as the Institute of Flood Control and Drainage Research that promotes integrated water resources management. The Institute undertakes research, training and consultancy services on water and flood management issues in Bangladesh.
The Institute’s main research focus is on water management, with particular emphasis on:
- urban water management
- irrigation and water management
- environmental impact of water development
- water resources policy
- floodplain environment
- river and coastal hydraulics
- wetland hydrology
The Institute offers post graduate degrees in integrated water resources management, including a post graduate Diploma in Water Resources Development and a Masters in Water Resource Management. It also conducts short courses, training and workshops in the field of water resources and flood management.
