USAID has been asked to develop and certify at least two tools for assessing the poverty levels of its microenterprise beneficiaries.

This tool is being developed with a view to measuring proportions of very poor clients amongst recipients of microenterprise services. It is also being developed to support the efficient and practical use of recommended tools in microenterprise and development programs.

An email listserv discussion group has been set up to facilitate communication. Additionally there will also be a project website, annual stakeholder meetings, live web chats and video conferencing to support the discussion. Draft documents will be posted on the project website for discussion.

To subscribe to the Poverty Assessment Tools listserv and actively participate in discussions about identifying, developing, and recommending poverty assessment tools for certification to USAID, send an email to listserv@listserv.umd.edu with “subscribe povertytools” in the body of the message. The moderator will add your name to the listserv.
