What can women contribute to conflict resolution and the achievement of lasting peace?

According to this article, creating spaces for women in conflict transformation processes will be a vital agenda for the UN and other stakeholders in the coming years. Women’s peace activism has only recently gained coverage with the spotlight on their success in Liberia. An analysis of the data on female participation in Uppsala’s peace agreements demonstrates a positive and significant impact of women’s participation in the peace processes. The author concludes that a quota-based effort to include women with relevant qualities in peace process should be an important area of focus for the international community’s peace-building efforts.
