Job: Mercy Corps seeks Deputy Chief of Party, Sudan

Mercy Corps and Mercy Corps Scotland are currently implementing more than $100 million in grants throughout Sudan while facilitating recovery by addressing economic recovery needs for nearly 300,000 people and laying the groundwork for long-term development. MC Scotland’s work in Sudan has four major components: Governance, Civil Society Capacity Building, and Humanitarian Assistance with activities that span many sectors including agriculture, market and livelihoods development, water/sanitation, capacity building, peace building, infrastructure rehabilitation, education, and emergency assistance. Mercy Corps is committed to long-term programming in Sudan and faces numerous opportunities for expansion.

The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will manage direct implementation of the BRIDGE program to support the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in Sudan through the delivery of tangible peace dividends and building capacity of State and County governments. Tangible peace dividends are supported in the areas of livelihoods, health and education, and government capacity building address skills related to service delivery, fiscal management, and effective consultation with stakeholders (including civil society). Mercy Corps and sister agency MC Scotland lead a consortium of several international and local partners to implement the program. The DCOP ensures program quality and carries out the strategic vision to the implementation of the BRIDGE program; managing technical staff and providing coordination and oversight of consortium partners to ensure that the program meets its targets and deliverables on-time and within budget. The DCOP is responsible for programming, project development, and personnel management. S/he is required to work closely with Sudanese government organizations at all levels, partners NGOs/CBOs and communities. The DCOP will ensure accountability to Mercy Corps policies and donor rules and regulations and work closely with the BRIDGE Chief of Party/Country Director to shape BRIDGE strategies with State Directors, Technical Teams and consortium partners.
