Event: IDRC presents 54th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, USA

At this year’s CSW in New York, IDRC is hosting three panels. The first panel, a “Vision for a Better World: From Economic Crisis to Equality” is sponsored by The Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations and the Permanent Mission of Nicaragua to the United Nations, and is in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and IDRC. This panel is centered on the global economic recession, and the gender differentiated impacts of the crisis, mainly, women’s economic vulnerability. The panel explores the need for a drastic shift in the economic reasoning, measures, and triggers that define economic policy at the national, regional and international levels.
