The frequency and complexity of emergency situations has led to an increase in the numbers of people employed by aid agencies. Whilst governments, international and national agencies employ permanent staff, the random nature of humanitarian work means that many employees will be on short-term contracts. This booklet is intended to help people to enter work in the humanitarian field, and those who are already there to move onwards and upwards.
