Job: Head of Knowledge Services, Institute of Development Studies, Sussex, UK.

IDS is looking for an exceptional leader to work with the Director and the Strategic Management Group to lead work on IDS Knowledge Services, in the context of our new strategic plan (due to be finalised early 2010). IDS knowledge services aim to mobilise knowledge to support better-informed decision making by those in a position to influence change.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of innovation in the design and delivery of high quality and well-regarded knowledge services; have successfully developed, secured funding for and implemented strategies for knowledge services and products; have excellent communication skills; and an ability to build relationships, support teams and lead change. The postholder will have a post-graduate level academic or management qualification. You will be able to demonstrate outstanding management, financial planning and budgeting skills. You will also have experience of working in partnership, probably including with Southern-based organisations, and of accountability for major grants.
You will be an excellent communicator with proven strong leadership skills. You will have an understanding of development issues and their implications for knowledge services activities. You will have significant experience of building and managing relationships within and between organisations and encouraging cross team working, gained at a senior level.
