Unity State, South Sudan - The WASH Electrician will work within South Sudan, mainly in the Unity State area with possible travel to needed areas. The main responsibilities will include installing submersible hand and surface pumps, installing control panels for submersible pumps and generator set, installing generators for all mechanical water pumps, troubleshooting problems with mechanized water pumps and generators, keeping a maintenance schedule for the WASH generators and pumps, and servicing/maintaining generators and submersible hand and surface pumps. The WASH electrician will also be responsible in coordinating and leading any emergency relief situations involving WASH efforts, creating and drafting technical designs, and submitting regular reports on the work being completed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor the events/outputs to ensure the timely completion of the project. • Producing maintenance and service schedule of generators and pumps. • Make sure that weekly/monthly reporting is completed on time and is fully detailed. • Make necessary visits to field sites to ensure that quality work is being completed. • Ensure the project will satisfy the needs of the beneficiaries. • Uphold a high standard of quality. • Ensuring the training of national staff in technical areas including installing, maintaining and servicing pumps and generators. • Travel to areas of high need and assist with other Samaritan’s Purse water projects in South Sudan. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Diploma in Electrical Engineering. • At least six years’ work experience in WASH in a similar role. • Formal WASH training and/or equivalent related work experience such as submersible water pump and generator sizing and installation. • Knowledge in motor starting methods and protection. • Skills in plumbing work, welding and similar works is an added advantage. • Able to be diplomatic in communications with all NGO, governmental, and community partners. • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in an ever changing environment. • Must be culturally sensitive and respectful of church leaders from all denominations. • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred. • Ability to speak or quickly learn Arabic and/or Dinka.
12 month contract with the potential for renewal.
This is an unaccompanied position.
