Turkey: Technical Adviser Psycho-Social Support
Country: Turkey
Closing date: 12 Jun 2013
Malteser International is the worldwide relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta for humanitarian aid. Its mission is to provide emergency relief as well as to implement rehabilitation measures and to facilitate the link between emergency relief and sustainable development.
Malteser International has been delivering humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees in Turkey since 2012. The Government of Turkey estimates that there are currently around 400,000 Syrian refugees in the country, 30.000 of them reside in and outside camps in Kilis. To relieve some burden of the local health infrastructure which is increasingly over-strained by the influx of Syrian refugees into the region, Malteser International will set up a temporary field hospital in Kilis. The ultimate objective of the programme is to transfer the field hospital to Syria, once the security situation has been stabilized. The medical assistance for civilian Syrian refugees will be accompanied by activities in the area of psycho-social support and conflict transformation in order to strengthen the Syrian civil society.
Programme activities will be implemented through our longstanding Turkish Partner IBC (International Blue Crescent Relief and Development Foundation) who is also implementing our current projects for Syrian refugees in Turkey and in Syria.
