Ethiopia: Project Implementation Manager (one year contract)

This role is a fixed term contract of one year, within which at least 6 months is expected to be based in Ethiopia with up to 40% additional travel throughout the contract.

The role
The purpose of this position is to manage the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) pilot project to ensure a successful implementation. The SCMS Project Implementation Manager will work closely with the SCMS Project Manager and manage the Ethiopia SCMS Pilot team to deliver an effective solution that will improve the delivery of program activities.
Accountabilities
Develop and maintain implementation project plans in conjunction with the SCMS Project Manager and manage the in-country project pilot team to ensure effective project delivery on time and on budget. This will include:

Organising and administering regular meetings with the Ethiopia pilot team and Country Logistics team to assess progress, identify issues, and provide assistance to remove roadblocks.
Proactively identifies risks and issues and offers contingency plans / options.
Prepares & provides a written & oral status report weekly to the SCMS Project Manager and participates in the SCMS weekly conference calls.
Management / coordination of problem determination & issue resolution: Supports the SCMS Project Manager in coordinating SMEs (Subject matter Expert), Software Development teams (internal and external) and the Ethiopia pilot team to
- Clearly define the problems
- Develop options (that will work locally & globally)

- Coordinates testing and implement solutions (process / system).
- Coordinate & follow up on solutions to insure requirements are met
Scheduling, orga nising and delivering SCMS meetings and workshops, including
- Introductory / overview presentations
- Design / configuration workshops
- Testing workshops / issue resolution workshops
- Pilot expansion / rollout strategies
- Staff training workshops
- Train the Trainer Workshops
- Facilitating conflict / issue resolution
Support system testing and usage by all relevant stakeholders
- Organise testing by all relevant staff in the Ethiopia program (program staff, logistics staff, finance staff, etc) and collect, analyse and propose relevant modifications to the SCMS Project Manager
- During the pilot period engage with all relevant departments in Ethiopia to ensure that the systems is being implemented effectively by the Ethiopia teams, giving them value added to deliver their Program activities.
- Support the SCMS Project Manager in product testing by staff outside of Ethiopia
- Support in the development of country focused system documentation and training content, including eLearning content
Develop & maintain SCMS System Data.
- Work with all stakeholders to ensure that the SCMS solution will support supply chain processes and the Warehousing and Procurement Procedures
- Work with Software System developers (internal and external) to ensure that SCMS Master Data is designed and setup correctly to effectively support the system, and will work locally for Ethiopia as well as globally for Save The Children.
Qualifications and experience
• A qualification in Logistics, IT Project Management, Business Administration or similar is required.
• Extensive management experience in a Supply Chain role within a Non Profit Organisation’s Supply Chain
• Extensive Project Management experience managing a medium to large SCM project, including forecasting, dem and planning, supply planning, purchasing / sourcing, warehousing / inventory management, transportation, distribution / beneficiary tracking
• Proven ability to build relationships across multiple stakeholders
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Work, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook E/Mail
• Experience with using databases is an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal / people management skills (proven track record leading / managing a project team)
• Excellent oral & written English communications skills
• Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or equivalent system is an advantage
