This document sets out to recommend the European Task Force on Banking, Business and Biodiversity on the design and functions of a Biodiversity Financing Technical Assistance Facility (BFTAF) which could, if operational, promote investments into businesses so as to reduce their impact on biodiversity.

The study looks at the following aspects of biodiversity financing:

  • analysis of the current understanding for promoting biodiversity-linked investments
  • a reviews of existing instruments to enhance the financing of biodiversity conservation
  • the major gaps in existing practices
  • a model for a BFTAF which would underpin a Biodiversity Financing Facility
