Job: Mercy Corps seeks Peacebuilding Specialist, Ethiopia

DFID/Ethiopia has developed a new initiative for the Somali Regional State (SRS) to further Peace and Development through the provision of basic services. The overall goal of the project is safety, security and equitable development in Ethiopia. The purpose is to strengthen the capability and commitment of state and non-state actors to prevent and resolve conflict peacefully and deliver development in conflict-prone areas. Within this overarching program, the delivery of basic services has been identified as an important means to increase state legitimacy.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:The Peacebuilding Specialist will be responsible for supervising MC staff working in the peacebuilding sector, providing technical leadership in conflict sensitive approaches, partnerships with government and non-state actors in the Somali Region, and working closely with partner staff and the Program Manager as a member of the senior leadership team. The Specialist will also take the lead on developing strategies for incorporating peacebuilding components into the delivery of improved educational services.
