Assessment and monitoring of forest and tree resources

The interest for better information about forest resources is growing at both national and international level. Demands for new types of information are now frequently being raised (regarding e.g. biological diversity, non- wood forest products, forest quality). The conceptual and methodological basis to satisfy many of these new demands, however, is insufficient. Moreover, answering all new questions will require funds which will not be available in the foreseeable future.
