Information support for agricultural policy formulation in Africa: role of international organisations
Efforts being made to improve the use of information in agricultural policy-making in Africa
This study reviews the current policies, strategies, activities and priorities of international organisations from the perspective of the organisations themselves. The procedures applied by these organisations to arrive at policy recommendations as well as the efforts made to improve the use of information in agricultural policy-making in Africa are also highlighted. The thirteen international organisations studied may be distinguished by the extent of their involvement in three broad fields of activity, namely, development, research and information support.
