Research institute. Work is divided into two research divisions: Division 1 carries out research on mortality, longevity, and aging while Division 2 focuses mostly on issues in the study of contemporary fertility and family dynamics. Much of the research is based on European countries.
Publishes the on-line journal Demographic Research. WWW site also includes full-texts of working and other papers.
