View full report

Mulanje Mountain, located in south-eastern Malawi, is a unique mountain massif with highly valuable environment, natural resources and biodiversity which play a significant role in the lives of the more than a hundred thousand people who live in its immediate surroundings and which have received global recognition. Mulanje Mountain presents formidable challenges of sustainable and equitable natural resource conservation and use. The Mulanje Mountain Biodiversity Conservation Project (MMCBP) was approved in 2000 for GEF funding through the World Bank and implemented from 2002 to 2008. In August 2007 MMCT successfully applied for support from the Government of Norway. This mid-term review (MTR) of the MMBCP is carried out for the Norwegian Government in order to assess progress towards reaching the objectives of the MMBCP to date, the relevance, effectiveness and sustainability of the project achievements, assessment of any risks and threats, and to suggest corrective measures.
