DAC (traditional) & non DAC (emerging) donors at the crossroads: the problem of export credits
Given the growth in the number of official donors, and especially when non Development Assistance Committee (DAC) donors like China and India are continuously increasing their respective aid financing, it becomes apparent that exclusion of their aid data will prohibit getting a full picture of the future aid architecture. In order to respond to the future trends of such aid flows from non DAC donors, it is essential to better understand the ways in which they can engage with the existing aid reforms initiative such as standardisation of aid data within the International Aid Transparency Initiative. The paper attempts to locate lines of credit (also called officially supported export credits) against the backdrop of new actors and their policies in development cooperation. The paper also looks at the global export credit sector and institutional arrangements for its approval in DAC & non DAC countries
