Providing development aid to Africa : comparing South Africa with China, India and Brazil

View full report

South Africa’s planned development aid agency, South African Development Partnership Agency, is expected to be established in 2013. This provides a good opportunity to assess South Africas current role as provider of development aid to other African countries. This will be assessed against traditional development aid from the north (the OECD countries), but primarily South Africa’s evolving aid policies and practices will be compared to those of the other main South powers – China, India and Brazil. They have all in recent years rapidly expanded their development aid projects in Africa.
