Centre For Development Co-operation in Fisheries, Norway (CDCF)

Helping developing countries achieve maximum and sustainable benefits from marine resources
Through institutional co-operation, the Centre For Development Co-operation in Fisheries (CDCF) assists developing countries in achieving maximum and sustainable benefits from marine resources. It represents the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) and the Directorate of Fisheries (DoF), the main institutions for fisheries research and management in Norway respectively.

CDCF focuses on:

  • management issues related to biological diversity of marine ecosystems
  • research on and monitoring of fish resources and the marine environment
  • fisheries management in marine areas
  • institutional development in research and management with emphasis on the role and function of government organisations
  • international agreements, treaties, conventions and codes
  • food security and poverty alleviation in relation to the fisheries sector
  • coastal zone issues as seen from a fisheries perspective
  • research and management in marine aquaculture
  • quality control of fisheries products.
