Nutrition research in India focuses on under- nutrition. However, rates of obesity are rising, along with chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. Researchers from the Carolina Population Centre, USA, looked at factors linked to under and over-nutrition in Andhra Pradesh in southern India. They found socio-economic level to be the most important predictor of women’s nutritional status.
