Here is a selection of sites that provide online resources or training guides on using the Internet for research.
1. Virtual Training Suite (VTS) Internet for Development: online tutorial aimed at helping students identify research tools and resources on development issues. Access is available to everyone. Part of the RDN Virtual Training Suite.
2. UC Berkeley - Teaching Library Internet Workshops: Detailed tutorial aimed at University students research but applicable to anyone using the Internet for research.
3. Itrain: a joint initiative of organisations with expertise in computer and Internet training in the South. Resources on the website include guides on Internet research skills and resources for trainers.
4. International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP): provides access to the teaching materials used in INASP's information training workshop programmes
5. Netskills: TONIC is an easy-to-understand, practical guide to using the Internet produced by Netskills. Use of TONIC is free, but users are required to register.
6. Internet Detective: an online tutorial designed to help students develop the critical thinking required for Internet research. This is another resource from the RDN Virtual Training Suite
