Food aid
- More pragmatic approach needed for the supply of cash or food aid
- This paper looks at the various aspects of the cash versus food debate, in order to map out where the controversies lie and to demonstrate the need for a more pragmatic, balanced and context-specific approach. A key concept in the paper is that appropriateness of either a cash or food transfer cannot be predetermined. Nevertheless, it is important to move from "cash versus food" to "cash and food", thus seeing cash and food as complimentary inputs rather than alternatives.
