The broad objectives of AYT as an institution are to: 

• Initiate, promote, develop, manage and support youth involvement and participation in economic development 
  
• Participate in and support initiatives aimed at addressing and dealing with issues affecting the youth and their livelihoods 
  
• Initiate, promote, develop and manage youth led development programmes
  
• Mobilise resources to support youth related projects and initiatives 
  
• Create funds aimed at supporting and financing youth projects, activities and initiatives
