The Ugandan government and the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) have signed the Accountability and Reconciliation accord - paving the way for prosecution of the LRA leaders and restoration for the victims of this vicious 20 year civil war. But how should Uganda proceed from here? This paper looks at and analyses the myriad of options open to the Ugandan government – Truth commissions; domestic legal processes; traditional justice mechanisms; international legal aid – and considers what will best serve the country as it attempts to reconcile and heal.
