Asian Centre for Human Rights, India (ACHR)


ACHR is an institution that seeks to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms in the Asian region. ACHR aims to provide accurate and timely information and complaints to the National Human Rights Institutions and United Nations bodies. It also conducts investigation, research, campaigning and lobbying on country situations or individual cases.

Research themes include:

  • anti-terror laws and due process
  • child rights
  • combating torture
  • globalization and human rights
  • refugees

The Centre’s publications include a weekly review of human rights issues in Asia, briefing papers and reports that can be downloaded from the website.

In addition, ACHR activities include providing legal, political and practical advice and training to human rights defenders and civil society groups on the use of national and international human rights procedures.
