ISCED 1997 is the revised version of the International Standard Classification of Education which was adopted in 1997 by UNESCO'S General Conference in replacement of the former version. From 1998 onwards, the new classification has been used in the international collection of education statistics since 1998. An operational manual providing detailed and practical instructions for the use of ISCED is now being prepared.
