Environment
The research programme of the PSC addresses the most central questions of population studies relating to demographic transitions and to population distribution, and has linked these to economic, political and social transformations. The Centre is the only such unit in New Zealand, so its functions are national as well as regional. It also has major international and cross-national research linkages.
