This paper summarises the events at a training of trainers that took place in Ethiopia in 2004. The training covered concept and principles of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), communication skills and adult education, and community based project proposal formulation. This was the third round Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop and took place from 10-14 November 2003 in Nazareth, Ethiopia.

The workshop lasted four days, examining:

  • implementation of UNCCD/NAP and drylands management
  • training of others (Adults) and communication skills
  • preparation and implementation of community based project proposals for UNCCD/NAP implementation

The objectives of the training were:

  • to promote awareness about UNCCD/NAP among various stakeholders
  • build well trained human forces that in return can train fellow community members in UNCCD/NAP with effective multiplication effect
  • build capacities of all concerned agencies for the UNCCD/NAP implementation

The report includes a detailed discussion of various sessions that were held throughout the conference, as well as detailed training outlines and visual training resources in the annexes.
