This short briefing argues that the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (CCD) does not have the right set of tools to address the challenges faced by dryland peoples around the world.
The report argues that there are three principal areas where attention should now be focused:
- working closely with the Convention on Climate Change to identify strategies to help the drylands adapt to climate change
- engaging with the changing aid architecture
- securing rights to land and natural resources for dryland populations
