Research centre aiming to promote sustainable agricultural productivity through agroforestry and research into the competition and complementarity of trees and crops. Research interests include: soil productivity, integrated pest management, alternatives to slash and burn systems.

Databases include:

• Contribution to the CIARL full-text CDRom (see separate entry)
• AFBIB: bibliographical database on agroforestry. Subset on Latin America included in CDRom from IICA
• SDI service called Agroforestry Updates. Also a newsletter called Library and Documentation Beacon.
• Union database of national and ICRAF documents collected by the SALWA AFRENA network in eastern and southern Africa
