DFID Health Resource Centre (HRC) (DFID)

HEART now supersedes the Human Development Resource Centre (HDRC) and the older Health Resource Centre (HRC). The HDRC website has been merged with the HEART one and the archived HRC website can still be accessed.

[The HRC’s mission is based on the need to develop national and international responses and interventions that directly improve the health and well-being of individuals living in the poorest countries of the world. It provides support to the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and its partners on work relating to public health and communicable disease control. Focal areas of expertise include HIV and AIDS, malaria, TB, sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, and child health and immunisation.

The HRC provides technical assistance, rapid response policy briefings and knowledge support on all aspects of international public health to DFID and its partners in developing countries. This work includes support to DFID on agendas relating to the new Global Health Partnerships and United Nations agencies such as the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the World Health Organization, the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Roll Back Malaria, and the UN Population Fund.

The HRC is comprised of an international consortium of partners in five countries. In 2005 the HRC merged with the DFID Health Systems Resource, and the HRC website now contains all the resources, publications and links for both health and health systems previously covered under the two websites.]
