Summary of a workshop held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2008 on big business support for entrepreneurs at the 'base of the pyramid' (BOP). Participants including key International corporate partners presented case studies of innovative and successful linkages and discussed the opportunities, challenges and success factors they have been able to identify.

Of particular interest are:

  • approaches to capacity building - assessment, training, coaching, peer-to-peer learning, experiential learning and awards and incentives.
  • responses to problems with access to finance.
