International nonprofit NGO seeks to improve the wellbeing and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and to help achieve a humane, equitable, and sustainable balance between people and resources. A research and technical assistance organization, the Council: conducts fundamental biomedical research in reproduction; develops contraceptives and other products for improvement of reproductive health; improves the quality and outreach of family planning and reproductive health services; conducts research on reproductive health and behavior, family structure and function, and causes and consequences of population growth; strengthens professional resources in developing countries through collaborative research, awards, fellowships, and training; and publishes innovative research in peer-reviewed journals, books, and working papers.

  • WWW site: with information on Council and its programmes, list of publications, press releases, description (and downloadable copies) of Council produced software, jobs/fellowships listings, full text of Working Papers and newsletters
  • full text of Population and Development Review and Studies in Family Planning, including back issues, to subscribers (as of March 2001)
  • family planning operations research database: provides family planning professionals with comprehensive information on operations research projects, and facilitates dissemination efforts by providing a variety of reports
  • HIV/AIDs prevention and care project includes numerous reports on research ranging from risk and prevention behaviors, stigma, policy issues, and sociodemographic factors; provides data bank of questionnaires useful in measuring a range of issues related to AIDS research.
