Economic Research Service, USDA (ERS)


Official USA source for economic analysis and information on agriculture, food, natural resources, and rural America. Also incldues materials on international commodity markets and trading conditions.

Information services include:

(a) WWW site: full text of selected publications, print publications list, breifings on markets for agricultural commodities, analaysis of US agricultural production,

(b) Statistical series (see separate entry for selected titles): based on contents of situation/outlook reports and yearbooks. Some series also include software for presenting dataset. Downloadable from WWW site and included on CDROM

(c) ERS CDRom: Contains 102 currently active ERS Electronic Data Products (new or updated within the past 3 years) and 40 archived products (more than 3 years old but having historic value). Included on the disc are over 7,500 Lotus 1-2-3 worksheet (.WK1) files

(d) Agricultral statistics CDRom: annual disc aimed at meeting the diverse need for a reliable reference book on agricultural production, supplies, consumption, facilities, costs and returns, land resources, farm programs, crop insurance, crop loans, etc. Contains 10 years of U.S. data and 3 years of State data covering a wide variety of agricultural facts. The file is in Adobe Acrobat PDF Format.

(e) Autofax service: automatic service for delivery of ERS documents by fax (free of charge). Users need to know index number of document. Instructions on WWW site or email to williams@econ.ag.gov / nancyw@econ.ag.gov
