Incorporating gender into your NGO
A manual on gender mainstreaming within organisations
This manual offers some suggestions on how organisations can reach gender mainstreaming, balance and equality within the organisation and its activities. First however, a brief explanation of the basic concepts and definitions on gender are outlined.
Thereafter, the following steps are highlighted and described:
- preparatory stage: requirements for change
- step 1: gender analysis of the organisation (including Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis)
- step 2: identify the changes needed
- step 3: Strategic gender planning and action plan
- step 4: implementation
- step 5: monitoring and evaluation
Finally, related resources and websites are given and links to tools like gender checklists for the project cycle are provided.
