Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE)

African NGO aiming to improve education for girls and women
Membership organisation working to increase access and improve the quality of education for all girls within the school system, and women in universities.

Pan African membership organisation with 33 national chapters, registered in Kenya in 1993. FAWE’s aim is to increase access and retention and to improve the quality of education for all girls in the African school system, and for women in African universities. Its activities include:

  • advocacy
  • policy consultation
  • maintaining a resource centre on girls’ education in Africa
  • production of various research publications.

FAWE serves as the lead agency for the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) Working Group on Female Participation (WGFP).
