The Institute for Women Studies and Research (IWSR)
Iranian NGO conducting research on women's rights and violence against women
A non-governmental organisation conducting research and studies on women issues, women's rights, violence against women and other related fields, holding training courses, and advocating for women's rights in Iran.
IWSR are in Special Consultative Status to ECOSOC and were established in 1986 to follow the main goal of promotion of women situation and the following objectives:
- promotion of knowledge about women in two fields of culture and science and in three national, regional and international levels
- promotion of culture and scientific and technical knowledge among the women researchers
- creation of the necessary grounds for relations among the scientific and cultural centers on women issues
- contribution to the problem-finding and scientific resolution of women issues in relation to the existing challenges of social and cultural development
- carrying out the scientific and religious research in the subjects related to women as the appropriate foundation of policy-making for women
- implementation of educational workshops, seminars, sessions, exhibitions, festivals in national and international level for exploring and resolving of women problems
Fields of Activities:
- combating against gender discrimination in family and society
- combating against violence against women, especially domestic violence and supporting victims of violence
- promotion of women and girl children awareness in the field of their physical and psychological health
- correction of wrong attitudes towards woman and girl children
- designing and production of educational packages
- education of childrens rights and supporting their rights
- planning and Carrying out of educational workshops for empowerment of women
- designing and implementation of educational workshops for empowerment of women and youth non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- offering consultancy services (individually or in group) to families, women and youth
