- Motives behind explosion of new sub-national administrative units in Uganda

Alongside large-scale economic and political reforms Uganda has also experienced a near explosion in the number of districts in less than a decade. This paper argues that district creation in Uganda is a political tool to find new sources of patronage in the ongoing need for the current regime to win elections.
